ANNOUNCING 8.8.08 FOR BURMA'S 'A HAND.
A VOICE & A SHIRT' PROJECT ***PLEASE REPOST****
(Internet Activism Organization Effectively Supporting The Freedom Of Civilians and Monks Of Burma Through Internet Networking)

The Burma Global Action Network (BGAN) is pleased to announce a hand. a voice. & a shirt project by 8.8.08 For Burma at http://www.8808forburma.com/.We've received a message from the Executive Director of 8.8.08 for Burma, Cristina Moon about a new project benefiting the Cyclone victims of Burma. We'd like to share it with you so that you may participate in this wonderful new project. Please see the message below.

On Wednesday, George Clooney and Brad Pitt, through their new organization Not On Our Watch, joined forces with Asian leaders and three Nobel Peace laureates to put a full-page ad in major newspapers in Southeast Asia.

The ad was titled "Burma's Broken Promises" and said:

Burma's delta remains shattered, its people starving and in danger.

General Than Shwe's promises have not been fulfilled.

LET THE PEOPLE OF BURMA KNOW THE WORLD IS WATCHING.

This message, directed at policymakers and leaders in the region who have failed to do enough to ensure the effective delivery of aid to cyclone victims in Burma, reinforced the stories of frustration and defiance described in a recent Washington Post article.

Vital relief has yet to reach the most vulnerable victims of Cyclone Nargis in Burma.

We have started to receive submissions of artwork for a benefit tee shirt for Burma aid and advocacy, but want to remind you to get your submission in, and spread the word about 8-8-08 for Burma and this benefit tee campaign by forwarding this email.

If you haven't already, view the slideshows available at http://www.8808forburma.com/.These works depict the beauty of Burma's millennia-old Buddhist culture; demonstrate the resilience and generosity of spirit of Burma's people; and portray the staggering crisis currently playing out on the Burmese landscape.

Submission guidelines: Create a tee design responding to Burma's humanitarian and political crisis, evoking your reaction - be it sympathy, revulsion, anger, frustration, shock, compassion, or hope. Submissions should be submitted as electronic PDF or Adobe Postscript files to info@8808forburma.org, (347) 756-4088.

Deadline: Wednesday, July 2, 2008

Cristina
